| WHY COBIE?
The COBie approach
is to enter the data as it is created during design, construction,
and commissioning. Designers provide floor, space, and equipment
layouts. Contractors provide the make, model, and serial numbers
of installed equipment. COBie is designed to interact with different
kinds of software and be displayed in several formats including
a spreadsheet display of COBie data. The information is interoperable
and at a design level is created via the IFC file format. Facility
operators can import COBie data, formatted in either IFC or spreadsheet,
directly into asset and maintenance applications
ARTRA AND COBie ArtrA is delivered with a COBie database upon request. COBie data can be attached to items and objects in the model, without using CAD, via ArtrA tags. When COBie information is searched for and retrieved, the documentation pertaining to it will be immediately available. When an object is interrogated, the COBie information will be listed as a tag. If the tag requires data input, it will be available as an ArtrA tag entry form.
ARTRA COBIE SOLUTION ArtrA is a high-end sophisticated Asset Lifecycle Management solution for architects and construction companies wishing to deliver BIMs for Facilities Management. At the other end of the scale is the Construction Operations Building Information Exchange (COBie) format. COBie is designed to be widely accessible to anyone in the AEC industry and takes the form of a spreadsheet that can be managed and maintained using standard business tools. ArtrA is delivered with a COBie database and property set making it possible for ArtrA information to be exported to a COBie standard spreadsheet.
