MANAGE
& ASSESS CORROSION MONITORING
Decisions regarding
plant integrity rely on an accurate assessment of the conditions
affecting corrosion and rate of deterioration. It is here that
Artra can make a significant contribution to potential cost savings.
ArtrA is a unique solution
for showing graphically the results of all types of non destructive
tests (NDT) including:
- Radiographic Testing (RT)
- Magnetic Particle Testing (MT)
- Ultrasonic Testing (UT)
Corrosion monitoring
surveys & measurements will indentify areas with reduced wall
thickness. These measurements are then judged as critical or not
acceptable against an agreed standard. ArtrA's role in the process
is to show the results graphically in 3D and provide a better
overview of the situation.
CAPTURING TEST RESULTS IN THE FIELD
Corrosion monitoring
results & measurements can be logged in the normal way and
entered into ArtrA in the office, or entered directly into a SQL
database in the field using ArtrA iTRACKER running on a tablet
PC. A tag containing all the required corrosion data fields is
created in ArtrA ADMINISTRATOR and then dropped onto the results
of a search which might be for all fittings/pipes/welds on a particular
line number. In the field
the engineer can call up the line number and enter the results
(wall thickness) into the tag input form for corrosion tests -
a far more reliable method than recording the data on paper.
LINKING CORROSION DOCUMENTS
Any existing documentation
available for the object, pipe, fitting, etc. can be linked through
ArtrA LIBRARIAN. Existing PDFs of NDT results will be attached
to the item in the model for recall on-site to ensure the field
team have all the information to hand. Photographs showing the
extent of corrosion can be taken and attached to the input-tag
in ArtrA.
INTERROGATING A 3D CORROSION MODEL
ArtrA is a database
management system with a graphical front end. All corrosion information
held in its SQL database can be searched for, filtered and shown
graphically. In the field this allows engineers to drill-down
to the information they need and then visually isolate the results.
Important data such as nominal bore, rating, specification, system,
schedule, wall thickness, etc. is readily to hand ensuring that
the engineers are equipped with all the necessary information.
GRAPHICAL
RESULTS OF NDT TESTS
ArtrA will show
the results of corrosion surveys as in 3D and colour coded according
to a set of project defined parameters for schedule & wall
thickness (normal/marginal/critical) etc. These flexible reports
provide engineers and owners with a powerful visualization tool
that identifies and locates critical problems. Using ArtrA thematic
reports, owners and O&M staff can make informed decisions
as to the type, process, cost and urgency of remedial measures.
