| ArtrA will operate equally well with either native CAD system file formats or with IFC. On large multi-stakeholder projects, where more than one CAD system has been used to create the BIM, IFC can be advantageous because the information will be standardised & consistent across the project. The buildingSmart philosophy is that an interoperable BIM is created and used during the design, construction and lifecycle phases of a building, and currently Artra is the ONLY solution that delivers that vision.
IFC/ARTRA PROCESS The process of
using an IFC file for Field-BIM and Facilities Management is simple.
The architectural/structural BIM is exported from the CAD/BIM
system as an IFC and opened in Navisworks where it is re-saved
as an NWD file with pre-set views, colour schemes etc. The
model imported into ArtrA where its attributes are linked to tags
and documents in ArtrA's SQL database. In the field the model
is loaded onto tablet PCs with ArtrA iTRACKER, allowing site engineers
to access all the information on a mobile device (figs 1- 6).
ARTRA SPONSORS BUILD LONDON LIVE ArtrA has been proud to sponsor the 48-hour International Build LONDON Live BIM competition for the last three years. Visit www.bll2009.com or www.buildlondonlive.com. During the competition ArtrA supports some of the design teams to demonstrate how quickly the BIMs from various CAD systems can be transferred to tablet PCs for Field-BIM and Facilities Management. This example of ArtrA was created in 48 hours.
ARTRA & BUILDING SMART IFC FILES ArtrA is fully interoperable with the buildingSmart Industry Foundation Class (IFC) standard. ArtrA will use IFCs from any architectural, structural or building services CAD (BIM) applications that support the standard. BUILDING SMART IFC .. | ...COBIE ![]()
